Monodrama about the life of Robert Capa
The script by Rudolf Varga-Amár is based on the autobiographical writings of Robert Capa
The life of the world-famous Hungarian war photojournalist is more the content of a novel than of a drama. His life is full of adventure stories, self-contradictory biographical data, tales and anecdotes, and he could almost be considered a comic book hero. The man who was never afraid, the man who fought five wars without a weapon, the man who made all his important decisions with a dice. The man who made merry every night, who was adored by every woman, who spoke no foreign languages, but who talked his way out of every situation. The man who was really a brand, a character, a pose.
But who was the man behind the photos and the brand he had built? Who was Endre Friedmann? This is the question the monodrama The Gambler seeks to answer.
